So. What I wanted to do today was remake the rough maps I had made for Katia. One of the overall area and one of each of the main cities. I got the overall map and one of the city maps mostly done. I need to do a rough map of the second city though, before I use my ~*~nice markers~*~ on it. :p I am such a child. WHERE IS MY COLORING BOOK AND MY CRAYONS? I am feeling moderately accomplished.
I ending up writing a fair bit last night, even though it was a bit hard going. A semi-plot twist came up out of nowhere, so that was fun to deal with. (Not even being sarcastic there, haha).
I woke up this morning and Hermione was sleeping on my chest and Chloe was sleeping between my knees. So I got up. About a half hour later, Hermione woke up John by sitting really close to his face and sniffing his cheek and breathing on him. It was kind of hilariously awesome, but terrible for him.
I ran errands, picking up kitty supplies and Plane food before going to Walgreens and doing some window shopping for Kinsor's bb. I can't believe she's due in less than a month and I haven't seen her since I knew. I mean, I saw her around Christmas (I think - yeah, I did) but she didn't realize she was pregnant then. So I got a cute duck stuffed animal and a couple of onesies and since her birthday is in August, I got her a beautiful teal/turqoise blue scarf. I hope she likes everything. :)
Right now I'm chilling, thinking about dinner, and listening to the HBP soundtrack, which
sache8 directed me to here I'm really liking it so far. Very pretty. I just wish there was a bit more of John Williams' Harry Potter Theme woven throughout it.
Soooo I'm hoping to do some straightening and writing during the rest of the evening. Tomorrow Traci and Jennifer are coming over for Kitty Instruction, and I have to go to work. John has the weekend off, since they switched his schedule. Jerks. We could have left tonight, or tomorrow. Not that anyone wants to fly on a Saturday because everyone flies on Saturday, but whatever.
Apparently my bb sister, Mady just passed her drivers test, and is going to get her liscense in the next couple of days. O_O This freaks me out. I'm proud of her, but freaked out.
Oh well, I'll just have to make her chauffer me around while I'm in town. :p I can't wait. Mom just called to ask about special foods for us, and I basically told her that John needs two percent milk and we both need some Labatt or Molson STAT. And if she buys steaks and ground beef, we'll grill steaks and burgers for her. I think she likes this plan. :p I CAN'T WAIT TO GO HOME!!!

Not working today. I am thankful for this, even though my paycheck will be smaller than normal. Today I'm going to do the dishes, give myself a pedicure and do this laundry/writing thing. It takes a half hour to wash and an hour to dry, and I like to race it while I'm writing and see how much writing I can do in between shifting loads of laundry. If I'm on a roll I can pump out 800 words an hour, and I've outlined the rest of Katia, so I'm hoping to get some good stuff done today. There's a conversation between her and her bff that I'm especially eager to write.
It should be a good day. :) And productive at the very least.

Today has been mostly good.
I went out shopping for special 4th of July food. I got a watermelon, I am very excited to cut it open to tomorrow and eat the whole thing. It's just a little watermelon, and I have the whole day. :p I also bought popsicles and some extra stuff that we needed for hambugers and hot dogs. We have way too much food for just two people. But it will be an amazing feast of classic Americana Summer food.
Also, Sarah Palin announced her resignation and her press conference thingy made me kind of die of laughter. I can't even... I mean I don't think she was speaking in full sentences, or in English. I mean, I do that too sometimes, but I'm not a Governor of a State with (theoretically) a speechwriter. Anyhow, my political fandom is aswirl with rumors that there is some kind of massive scandel involving feds and money and craziness. So there should be much insanity and lolarity in the next couple days. I do kind of feel bad for her. She seemed so... spazzy and panicked and nervous when she was talking. ADD almost, it was kind of disturbing.
I'm having trouble writing in the apartment. I realized this yesterday when I tried to sit down to write but got distracted by like, everything. And then just sat there when I got home from my hair appointment and tried to keep writing but couldn't. And I didn't really have this problem when I was on the airplane. Hmmm, perhaps I need headphones. Which I have, but they're allllllll the way across the coffee table. O_O I thought about trying to go to a cafe or something, but that would most likely require me buying something, and even if it was the cheapest thing in the joint, I'd feel bad about spending money that we don't really have.
I used this face mask thingy and now my skin feels all tingly and clean and amazing. <3
Chloe continues to follow me around the apartment, it's kind of adorable.
I will attempt more writing. Or I will go eat another popsicle. Both are excellent options.

So I just finished typing up what I had handwritten during our Chicago vacation before I went to get my haircut. Upon my return, I did a word count and discovered I managed 3,400 words during vacation. Most of this was writing on the return plane ride, but a good deal was during one of the non-camping camping nights and some was during the car ride. I found that me trying to write in the car is not a great idea. I can't read in the car because I get motion sick, and when I'm writing in the car, I get the same sort of feeling if I don't stop every paragraph or so to look out the windows for a bit. Makes it very slow going.
Anyhow, I'm moving along pretty well on Katia, makes me optimistic that I will actually have her rough draft done by my bday. I'm in the middle of one of the hardest parts to write and it's going not terrible, so that's good. :p
Overall, I am cautiously optimistic about my progress.
Also, this Regina song is making me incredibly happy right now:

I don't really remember lying down, but I think I just took a two hour nap. And I'm still tired. And now my neck hurts and I'm cranky. I'm trying to eat some dinner, though, hopefully that'll help with the tired. I have vauge recollections of getting up and doing... something in the middle of my nap... using the bathroom I think? And I definitely remember lying back down after that, because I kind of collapsed on the couch and Hermione walked all over me, which felt good.
And I slept in my contacts, which always feels awesome. /sarcasm
And everyone on my main Red Wings message board is freaking out because it's free agent day and omg we're not doing anything and Hossa signed with chicago and BLAAAAAAAAH. God, what a bunch of whiny men. Ugh, why do I even go there in the off season, all the normal people seem to have left.
I think my neck hurts because I slept on it funny, but I think I also have a headache from lack of caffine. I drank a lot of pop and caffinated drinks when in Chicago, mostly because John's family drinks 2% and I drink skim and so I couldn't drink milk, and I felt bad about drinking bottled water all the time and there was also no juice. Just a lot of pop. And beer. But no Canadian beer. What's a girl gotta do to get some fucking Molson or Labatt? Mumble grumble mumble.

It's 8am-ish and we're already at our gate. Our flight leaves at 941, so we should start boarding around 9. I paid for wireless and don't regret it. We're flying to Las Vegas and have about an hour or two layover (which is kind of the perfect amount of time for a layover) before taking a short flight to SF. We should be home, as in, in our apartment, by 330 (PST) by the latest. I can't wait to see the kitties.
I am very tired. I slept pretty good last night, better than the three nights before that (Oh I'll tell you all about it) but I had such a little time to sleep that I am feeling very frazzled.
I really did have a good time. I miss it already and am excited to return, but for now I just want to sleep (which I won't on the plane because I take terrible naps... ugh).
Must... drink... more... coffee...

Well, we're about to be off to Missouri. Six hours one way (if we don't stop, which we will, at least once). I will probably be plugged into my iPod the whole time, and I'm extremely hopeful that I will get much writing done this weekend. Or at least until we get back on Monday. I'll probably be not able to get internet at all, so no crazy updates until I get back unless something really crazy happens and I can lj text an entry. :p
<3 *hugs* hope nothing crazy happens while I'm gone.
Have I mentioned how much I love having a laptop and being able to take it with me every freakin where? Because I LOVE IT.

It is 840pm and I am most of the way through my to do list.
I abhor coming home to a messy house so I'm cleaning before I go, which adds more to the packing/getting ready that I have to do. Hopefully John will be home in twenty minutes or so to help.
Or get in the way. Either or.
I've cleaned the living room and bathroom and hallway and bedroom pretty thoroughly, including swiffering and washing the floors in all rooms and vacuuming and doing a total change and clean of the kitties litter box. I scrubbed the bathroom and cleaned my desk and John's desk. All I really have to do is scrub the kitchen, finish the dishes and get rid of the perishable things that will perish while we're gone. And finish packing. And shower. And fix John's iTunes.
I'M ALMOST THERE.
And then I get to wake up at 310AM so we can leave by 345AM. WOOO AM I LUCKY OR WHAT??? AMIRITE?
I'm HOPPED UP ON MOUNTAIN DEWWWWW

I had a dream last night that we were living in a slightly different apartment a couple blocks away on the other side of the park, and that somehow Hermione had run out the front door and we couldn't find her anywhere.
The pure, horrible panic that I felt before I woke myself up and realized it was a dream nearly suffocated me. Then I woke up and almost cried. Then Hermione jumped up on the bed and I grabbed her and snuggled her. She was squirmy.
And I'm getting pretty sick of people bitching about Airline fees. Yeah, they suck. And it sucks when you have to pay extra to check your bag or check in at one place or do whatever, but you want to know why you have to pay those fees now?
The damn cheap tickets websites.
When you go onto one of those websites and pay the lowest possible price for a seat, you are paying for the seat and probably for not even enough jet fuel to get you where you need to go. And with more and more people buying tickets from those sites, the airlines are not able to afford to pay for their jet fuel. And that means cutting back on the workforce, the planes themselves (United cut about a third of their fleet this past year), and services that used to be free. So yeah, they're going to charge you to check your damn bag because they can't afford to fly it any damn place because you had to get the best price. And yeah, they're going to charge you for food and to check in at the airport instead of online or at a kiosk, and yeah, you're going to have to pay for more leg room in the Emergency aisle seats.
Does that make it any less annoying? No, of course not. I know exactly how annoying it is to pay a shitload for tickets that aren't even good. I know exactly how annoying it is to sit in the middle between two much larger people than yourself and have to pee and they're asleep. I know exactly how annoying it is. I understand wanting to get the best price and not paying more than you have to.
But damn people, don't buy your stupid tickets on a cheap tickets website and then complain to me of all people, who watches her boyfriend work at least ten hours a day when he's only paid for eight with understaffed union employees and bosses who are having mental breakdowns because they can't do everything their bosses want them to do, that you don't get free fucking food in your economy seats.

When packing, should I bring my backpack or my big black bag that I usually take... hmmmmmm....
I think I'm going to go with the backpack. Easier to carry, better for my shoulders and can fit more snacks in it... excellent. Also, easier to foist upon John should I decide it's too heavy and I don't wanna carry it. :p
So, I got my bangs cut. My stylist is rockin because she didn't charge me for the bang trim at all, which is awesome. They look much better.
Went to the store, finished supplying the kitties and picked up the supplies for the trip (plane friendly food: goldfish crackers, chex mix, cashews and dried cherries).
Went to Walgreens and picked up my perscription.
Clarified with the petsitter the days we'll need petsitting.
Wrote the check and the note and got the tip ready for the petsitter.
Wrote out the rent check and hid it in case we get stuck somewhere on the way back.
Found my swimsuits. Determined one of the three is too small for me anymore. Sad, because I liked it.
Picked out the books I am taking with me. Well, one of the books I'm taking with me. Still trying to determine a second.
Had a nice convo online with a Red Wings fan about Avatar. LOL FANDOM COLLIDE.
Cleaned my desk.
Talked to my mom on the phone for a while. Talked to Mady on the phone for a while.
Am going to: do the dishes, finish straightening better, clean the litter box, clean off John's desk and update John's iPod. Oh, and eat dinner or something.
When I was going through my closet, I discovered a bunch of old clothes that I haven't worn in a while because of various reasons (not warm enought/forgot I had it/out of sight out of mind/etc) and I feel like I just went shopping. I was getting kind of bored with my wardrobe, so it's nice to know I have clothes I still like somewhere. :)

I was getting kind of bored with my wardrobe, so it's nice to know I have clothes I still like somewhere. :)
